Three Shelby County auto-registration workers were arrested on bribery charges Wednesday for allegedly taking illegal payments from Memphis City Councilwoman Barbara Swearengen Ware. Ware, a five-term council member, has not been charged but prosecutors said a criminal investigation is "ongoing." The revelation came Wednesday as the Shelby County District Attorney's Office announced indictments against eight County Clerk's employees accused of accepting bribes.
